Tucked away in historic, beautiful downtown Elizabeth City, North Carolina, the Culpepper Inn is an easy one-hour drive from Norfolk International Airport, Virginia Beach, VA oceanfront, and the Outer Banks resort areas of eastern North Carolina. This three-story brick Georgian Revival style manor was built by William and Alice Culpepper in 1935 and is situated in the center of the historic district of Elizabeth City, NC. The Inn is within walking distance of downtown and the harbor of the Pasquotank River.

The Inn features eleven guest rooms - four traditional B&B rooms in the Main House(adult only), one suite in the Carriage House(up to 4 guests), and six in the Camellia Guest House(children over 12 only).  All of our guest rooms feature a private bath and host 2 adults except the Carriage House Suite which has room for four.

The Inn is surrounded by lush grounds with beautiful old live oak and magnolia trees, and the property is accented by many camellia trees and bushes.  "The Gathering Place"- tavern style social space, in-ground salt-water pool, porch rockers, fish pond, outdoor living room and fireplaces and Edison string lights and timed ambiance lighting, invite our guests to linger and relax during their stay. This atmosphere is a welcome change from typical hotel accommodations.

Guests will find the Inn on a lovely, quiet street along one of the historical walking tours in Elizabeth City. The Inn offers beautifully decorated rooms, many amenities, and a multi-course served breakfast or self-serve breakfast each morning.

Our served breakfast is 9am in the Main Inn. Full rate guests have the option of served or self-serve breakfast. Discount rates include self-serve breakfast and families with children have self-serve breakfast-in the, "Gathering Place-tavern Room". Self-serve breakfast is available anytime up to 11am. Breakfast options may be affected by the season, day of the week, events and number of guests. We do whole foods breakfast with as much seasonal & local that is available, including free-range eggs, real butter, cream, local meats & vegetables, etc. If you have a restricted diet, we offer a discounted room rate and a local breakfast restaurant recommendation.
