Tucked away in historic, beautiful downtown Elizabeth City, North Carolina, the Culpepper Inn is an easy one-hour drive from Norfolk International Airport, Virginia Beach, VA oceanfront, and the Outer Banks resort areas of eastern North Carolina. This three-story brick Georgian Revival-style manor was built by William and Alice Culpepper in 1935 and is situated in the center of the historic district of Elizabeth City, NC. The Inn is within walking distance of downtown and the harbor of the Pasquotank River. Experience a step back in time when the world was civil & hospitable.

7-10am in the Tavern Rm.
(coffee/juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, english muffin/bagels, cereal, sweet baked goods, & local eggs for you to fix in our limited kitchen).
TAVERN is closed at 10am for cleaning.

Elizabeth City, North Carolina has great, convenient area attractions including a major Coast Guard installation, blimp manufacturer, river recreation, water park, state parks,  beaches, arts, cuisine, micro-breweries, vineyard, museums, and wildlife refuges. We gladly assist your stay with recommendations, reservations and information.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The Inn features eleven guest rooms - four traditional historic B&B rooms in the Main House(adult only, 3 King, one Queen), one suite in the Carriage House(King bed & Queen sleeper sofa-up to 4 guests), and six in the attached Camellia Guest House(children over 12 only), including a handicapped accessible room.
All of our guest house rooms feature a Queen bed, & private bath and host 2 adults except our handicapped accessible room which can be dressed as two twins or a King.

OUR POLICIES
At the Culpepper Inn of Elizabeth City, we embrace small town American values and hospitality so that you feel like you are taking a step back in time to when life was easier, kinder, and more civil. Please review our venue policies and procedures below to see if #themostpatrioticinninamerica is the right venue for your upcoming visit to the Harbor of Hospitality:
  • We are an OVER 12 Years Old/ Adult Only venue and reservations must be made a day in advance.
  • We have 6 GUEST HOUSE ROOMS, THE CARRIAGE HOUSE Suite & 4 rooms in the HISTORIC MAIN INN.
  • We are a COMPLETELY SELF-HELP VENUE. This allows us to keep our rates REASONABLE.
  • NO SMOKING. NO PETS.
  • Breakfast for all is SELF-HELP CONTINENTAL 7-10am.
  • coffee/juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, bagels, cereal, sweet baked goods, & local eggs for you to fix in our limited kitchen.SELF CHECK IN IS ANY TIME AFTER 3PM.
  • Please understand, we need adequate transition time for room cleaning. If you arrive prior to 3pm, we will have to CANCEL your reservation for not following our policies and being inconsiderate to staff.
  • You will be emailed self check-in instructions in a confirmation. Make sure to respond that you have received and read the self check-in email in order to receive door codes for the property.
  • The POOL is open noon-8pm, Memorial-Labor Day
  • We strive to make your visit feel like a "home away from home" by embracing small town hospitality values, and the policies above help us maintain that environment for all our guests and staff.
